The Gem & Harry Smith Building, located in Birmingham’s city centre, has been refurbished to create 22 new homes. We improved the building’s interiors, services, and finishes to meet modern standards, blending efficiency with heritage.
Historical Significance
Built in the early 20th century, the Gem & Harry Smith Building played a key role in Birmingham’s industrial past. Once a center for the jewelry trade, the structure reflects the city’s industrial architecture.
Our Expertise
BSC Construction Group was entrusted with the complete fit-out, from concept to completion, including:
Façade Installation: Restoring the exterior to preserve its historical appeal.
M&E Integration: Seamlessly incorporating modern systems within the original structure.
Dry Lining: Delivering precision installations to meet fire and design standards.
Key Challenges
The building’s tight city-centre location presented several challenges, particularly with integrating modern systems into limited spaces
Our careful coordination with all trades ensured a timely and safe completion, resulting in modern apartments that respect the building’s rich history while offering contemporary comforts.
